Numerous players have taken up different hobbies this offseason as a way to pass the time for the NFL lockout to come to an end. Along with staying in shape for football, Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has kept himself busy this offseason with two other jobs as a rapper and salesman.

In a recent interview with Lindsay Jones of The Denver Post, Lloyd discussed how he’s been able to spend more time on his music this offseason with the lockout. Since 2003, Llyod has written and recorded over 150 songs–which can be found on SoundCloud.com–along with having his tracks featured in numerous television shows and video games.

“I’m an organic rap dude,” Lloyd said in the interview. “And my experiences are why my content is the way it is, but I just love local, independent artists, because I consider myself a struggling musician, just grinding away and trying to figure out your path.”

On top of all the time spent on his music, Lloyd also discussed how his first “real job” as a salesman for Re-Steel Supply Company–which distributes specialty metals for the aerospace industry. The new gig has Llyod on the road a lot this offseason, but he’s enjoyed every minute of it as he’s been fascinated by the work done in steel mills and technology plants.

“It has been really rewarding, because football is like fantasy land. It’s not like really working,” Lloyd said. “So, to go to steel mills in Pennsylvania and Gary, Indiana, and see that people are making containers for nuclear fuel for aircraft carriers, it puts in perspective how important I am, Brandon Lloyd the football player, in the real world.”

Last season, Lloyd emerged as one of the most dangerous wideouts in the NFL after finishing with 77 receptions for 1,448 yards with 11 touchdowns. The music industry and the business world are both fun to pass the time this offseason, but Lloyd knows his main focus is football and will still be ready for next season as the Broncos look to bounce back from their disappointing 4-12 finish in 2010.
